Sadly, Nashville 2020 Novel Camps are canceled.
ANI 2020 Chattanooga Novel Camp is STILL ON!
Summer four-week novel-writing camp (half-days)

A Novel Idea's novel camps in Nashville are canceled for summer 2020.

Summer 2020 camp in Chattanooga is still ON in June at Barnes & Noble, Hamilton Place.

When you sign up for A Novel Idea, you will write your very own novel in four weeks of literary abandon!

During a series of creative explosions, you will write 30,000 to 40,000 words, throwing caution to the wind to learn the beautiful and sometimes messy art of novel-writing with teachers who are writers themselves.

You’ll achieve something every literate adult aspires to do (even your mom, probably) but very few ever accomplish.

You’ll imagine. You'll create. You'll write.
And then you'll brag about it.

Your finished work will be published, complete with ISBN, and presented to you at a ceremony in December. Extra copies of your masterpiece can be ordered for friends and family.

You'll have a paperback, perfect-bound copy of your book to carry around in your backpack, like a  magical self-esteem sword, ready to vanquish fears of writing book reports, research papers, and even that thank you note to your Auntie Ann. Let's dismiss the doubter inside you, and give your inner inspiration a writer's voice.

ANI Novella Camp:
Summer one-week novella-writing camp (full days)

If you don't have a full month to devote to ANI's Novel Camp this summer, this is the one for you.

You'll spend an entire week writing a short novel - a novella - with all the heart and punch of its bigger, longer literary sister. The full-week experience is comprised of instruction, writing time, and plenty of opportunities to have fun and be a kid.

This class is a full day - you'll arrive at 9:00 am and leave at 5:00, providing you with a full day of literary immersion.

Your finished work will be published, complete with ISBN, and presented to you at a ceremony in December. Extra copies of your masterpiece can be ordered for friends and family.

Students will attend the same ANI instructional class, and break out to write their novels in age-appropriate cohorts.

Come and be a part of a writing community where your words are wanted and welcomed!

A Novel Idea’s Pen and Paper Clubs are after-school creative writing communities that teach the transformative power of words.
Open to students from third through eighth grades, Pen and Paper Clubs meet at select schools in the Nashville area. There is also a Saturday club, open to all students, which meets at Harding Academy.

Our program focuses on:

  • Exploring a new literary genre each week in a fun and fresh way from Short Stories and Screenwriting to Story Song lyrics and the power of Persuasion

  • Developing Word Choice

  • Strengthening the Author’s Voice

  • Creating confidence and a capacity to communicate courageously

  • Project management

  • Editing techniques

Our students learn to face the blank page with a sense of boundless possibility.

More importantly, perhaps, our students learn to love their voice and see just how magical and amazing they really are!

A Novel Idea’s Pen and Paper Club is now entering its 8th year inspiring more than hundreds of students all over the city of Nashville!
